Round 3 Qualifying for $50,000 He’s My Man Classic Wednesday Afternoon, January 9! Can Flat Chat Cuppa, MW’s T Rex and Duxbury Remain Undefeated?

UNBELIEVABLE ROUND THREE QUALIFYING FOR THE $50,000 HE’S MY MAN CLASSIC

WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON, JANUARY 9!

FLAT CHAT CUPPA, MW’S T REX AND DUXBURY LOOK TO ENTER SEMIFINALS UNDEFEATED!

West Palm Beach, Fl. – Palm Beach Kennel Club presents third-round action for the $50,000 He’s My Man Classic Wednesday afternoon, January 9.

Following two rounds of point earnings, the original field of 56 hopefuls has been reduced to 32 athletes, all willing and eager to make it to the top 16.

Three Greyhounds will enter round three undefeated, $20,000 Dick Andrews Futurity winner Duxbury, 2018 $20,000 Bob Balfe Puppy Stakes Champ Flat Chat Cuppa and the early-speed demon MW’s T Rex.

Match ups on Wednesday afternoon’s stake-qualifying card include:

Race 10 features the undefeated qualifying entry, #1 Flat Chat Cuppa (KC And All – Kiowa Jill Vik, Janie Carroll Kennel). “Yodel” may not find winning her third qualifier quite as easy as her first two. Right off the bat, the two Greyhounds to her immediate left, #2 Open Throttle (Need My Moneynow – MW’s Morrigan, D. Q. Williams Kennel) and #3 Dutch Hobbs (Kiowa Mon Manny – Dutch Dimple, Lester Raines Kennel) along with #7 Barts Say La Vee (Kiowa Myth – Martinstown Tina*, James Douglas Kennel) may not be that forgiving in their early speed quest for the lead at the first turn and may put “Yodel” in a precarious position.

Race 12 is by far the most difficult to handicap. One could make a case for any of the eight superstars in this event. Going by their current points, a couple of Greyhounds already have enough to reach the semifinals. But for the others, a spot in the sweet 16 is on the line. This is going to be a great race to witness!

In Race 14, all eyes will be on the undefeated apex predator #7 MW’s T Rex (Aerial Battle – MW Neptunia, D. Q. Williams). Rex possesses perhaps the best early speed of all the $50,000 He’s My Man Classic and rarely gets caught while on the lead. It appears that the Jurassic one should run wild and free to enter the semifinals undefeated.

The final qualifier of the afternoon, Race 15, highlights one the youngest $50,000 He’s My Man Classic entrants, #3 Duxbury (Pat C Clement – WW Lonesome Dove, Rader Racing Kennel). At 70 pounds, this big and happy girl has been putting in some awesome efforts as of late. In this qualifier, she may have to give chase to the early-speedster #4 Outta Style (Dragon Fire – Rain Over Me, James Douglas) and/or #6 Bessie Coleman (Goodlucksterling – Miss Kate, D. Q. Williams). Perhaps of even bigger concern will be the threat from #1 Pat C Verona (SH Avatar – Idaho Cuda, Koppe, Staats & Collins Kennel). In their last meeting this past Saturday, Verona was right there at the first turn with Duxbury. If Verona can get underneath Duxbury entering the backstretch and get a clear lead, then the Futurity champion may have to endure have her first qualifying loss. Of course, if Duxbury gains the early advantage, then it’s five wins in a row!

The top sixteen-point earners following Wednesday’s third round will advance to the Classic semifinals Sunday afternoon, January 13.

The elite eight will move on the finale of the $50,000 He’s My Man Classic Saturday afternoon, January 19.

The $50,000 He’s My Man Classic is the first event in Palm Beach Kennel Club’s $150,000 “Big 3″ Stakes series, which includes the $50,000 James W. Paul 3/8ths Mile Derby (Saturday afternoon, February 23) and the $50,000 Arthur J. Rooney, Sr. St. Patrick’s Invitational (Saturday afternoon, March 16).

The Classic is named for Palm Beach Kennel Club racing legend and the track’s first multimedia sensation He’s My Man and dedicated to the man who raised and trained “Roscoe”, Bill Pappas.
