BAD BEAT JACKPOT HIT AT PBKC!
Jackpot of $460,789 Won!
“Losing” Hand Player Collects $290,393!
West Palm Beach, FL – Table 6 in the Poker Room at Palm Beach Kennel Club was the place to be in the wee hours of Tuesday morning at 1:04am, October 5, 2021. Eight excited players took home a piece of the $460,789 Bad Beat jackpot, and the lucky “losing” poker hand paid off a life-changing $230,393.
PBKC’s rules state that if a player who has at least four 10s loses, to a better hand, that loser gets half the Bad Beat jackpot. The winner of the hand gets 25 percent, and those sitting at the table split the remaining 25 percent. The “losing” hand received $290,393; the actual winning hand collected $115,196 and the other six players each took home $19,200 just for playing at the winning table.
Cristine Renney dealt the hand in 2-4 Limit Hold’em, a poker game where each player holds two cards of their own and share five community cards. The “loser” of the hand, Ulisse Pellegrino of Jupiter, Fl., held JJJJT, while the “winner” Robert Coulter of Grand Junction, Colorado had 89TJQ Diamonds.
The sequence of events as told by our social media guru Mike Jameson goes as follows: “At 1:04am, dealer Christine Renney dealt Robert Coulter 9 & Q diamonds. Ulisse Pellegrino thought he was in a great spot with J spades & hearts. The Flop was 10 diamonds, J clubs and 9 hearts. The Turn was 8 diamonds, and the river J diamonds. Robert won the hand with a straight flush Queen high diamonds. When everyone noticed Ulisse had 4 Jacks, the table erupted!
It’s never fun to lose with such a great hand unless that hand happens to be quad J’s. This was no ordinary Bad Beat jackpot; this particular jackpot had been growing since the last time it was hit in November of 2019. It was at an amazing $460,789!”
Pellegrino plans on using his winnings to buy a house and a car while Coulter will use his huge pay day on investments.
This was the second highest Bad Beat jackpot in PBKC Poker Room history.
PBKC’s Poker Room is home of the record-setting south Florida Bad Beat Jackpot of $504,833 (paid out 9/23/12).
