HE’S MY MAN CLASSIC CHAMPIONSHIP, SATURDAY AFTERNOON, JANUARY 28!
The final eight Greyhounds have been determined for Saturday afternoon’s 37th running of Palm Beach Kennel Club’s $50,000 He’s My Man Classic.
As in most stake race finals, and especially the finale of the $50,000 He’s My Man Classic, it’s all going to come down to post position, post position, post position.
First, let’s look at the finalists who sport the best early first-turn speed/rush. The leading qualifying-point earner, Big Red Dog, certainly fits into that category along with Marsha Ambrosius, KB’s Katana and O Ya Sunflower.
And then we have the finalists who must rely on their ability to come from off the pace to score the championship win. In that category falls Janice Dean, Bartsrocktheboat and Barts Big Bang.
There is another unique category that merges the above two, a Greyhound who possesses a strong rush to the first turn and who can go into overdrive in the homestretch. Hot Prospect Gal fits that definition very well. Just look at her semifinal qualifying victory in which she rushed the first turn, took the lead on the backstretch and clocked in at an astounding 29.26 seconds, the fastest qualifying time of all four rounds.
At this point in time, a case could be made for all eight of these fantastic finalists making their way to the winner’s circle.
But again, it will all come down to post position, post position, post position.
The eight 2017 $50,000 He’s My Man Classic finalists, in order of points earned:
46 Points: Big Red Dog (Rhythmless – KB’s La Bella, Rader Racing)
40 Points: Marsha Ambrosius (Flying Coal City – On The Fly, Brindle Kennel)
40 Points: Hot Prospect Gal (Last Outlaw – Flaring Fiesta, Arthur Agganis)

The $50,000 He’s My Man Classic finalists will meet in Saturday afternoon’s twelfth race, all going for the $25,000 first-place prize.
A press conference and post-position draw will be held in the track’s Terrace Restaurant Thursday afternoon, January 26, commencing at 11:45 a.m.
The $50,000 He’s My Man Classic is the first event in Palm Beach Kennel Club’s $150,000 “Big 3″ Stakes series, which includes the $50,000 James W. Paul 3/8ths Mile Derby (Saturday afternoon, February 25) and the $50,000 Arthur J. Rooney, Sr. St. Patrick’s Invitational (Saturday afternoon, March 18).
The Classic is named in honor of Palm Beach Kennel Club racing legend and the track’s first multimedia sensation He’s My Man and dedicated to the man who raised and trained “Roscoe”, Bill Pappas.
