Round Three Qualifying for the $50,000 He’s My Man Classic, Wednesday Afternoon, January 17!

UNBELIEVABLE ROUND THREE QUALIFYING ACTION FOR THE $50,000 HE’S MY MAN CLASSIC,

WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON, JANUARY 17!

West Palm Beach, Fl. – Palm Beach Kennel Club presents third-round action for the $50,000 He’s My Man Classic Wednesday afternoon, January 17.

Following two rounds of point earnings, the original field of 56 hopefuls has been reduced to 32 athletes, all willing and eager to make it to the top 16.

Only two Greyhounds will enter round three undefeated, the $20,000 Dick Andrews Futurity winner Eyesappealing and the finalist who was undefeated through four Futurity qualifying rounds, Grand Azul.

During last Saturday afternoon’s second-round, the upset of upsets occurred as Suncoast Kennel’s Atascocita Emett put an end to the incredible 16-race win streak of pre-championship favorite, Rader Racing Kennel’s Tip Top.

Match ups on Wednesday afternoon’s stake-qualifying card include:

Race 10 features the undefeated qualifying entry, #6 Grand Azul (Barcelona Boss – Kiowa Starz Sage). Azul appears to have drawn into a favorable post position with possible, but not likely challenges coming from the well-positioned #1 AMF Best Be Done (KC And All – AMF Buzzinaround, B & B Racing) and the early speedster #8 Superior Dame (Flying Coal City – Superior Pandora, B & B Racing).

In Race 12, #2 Tip Top (Barcelona Boss – Kiowa Starz Sage) will be looking to start a new win streak, but this is a tough field, perhaps the strongest “Tipper” has ever faced. Tip Top likes to be in the lead entering the backstretch, however there are several entries who may deny him that nicety – and some from his kennelmates – including #3 Rail Defender (Stealintheshow – Shot At The Nite, Rader Racing) round two winner #4 Char Vallon (Djays Octane – Hail Storm Bones, James Douglas Kennel), veteran #6 SE’s Cool Kate (Flying Coal City – As She Is Basra, Rader Racing) and #7 Atascocita Elske (Kiowa Sweet Trey – Atascocita Zeal, Suncoast Kennel).

There is no doubt that the public’s choice in Race 14 will be the amazing youngster #3 JT’s Blindnspeed (Pat C Sabbath – Julianne Hough, Koppe, Staats & Collins.) In this qualifier, he will have to come from off the pace to score the victory, having to pass possible frontrunners such as #1 Bigger Pockets (Barcelona Boss – WW’s Dove Call, Janie Carroll Kennel), #4 Barts Diditmyway (Pacific Mile* – Seadon Traveler, James Douglas Kennel) and round-one victor #5 Big Red Dog (Rhythmless – KB’s La Bella, Rader Racing).

Wrapping up the afternoon in Race 15, all eyes will be on the undefeated and probable race favorite, the winner of last month’s $20,000 Dick Andrews Futurity, #3 Eyesappealing (Barcia Bale – Goldilocks, Lester Raines Kennel). This qualifier may not be as giving as the first two rounds, as Eyesappealing will be competing against some stiff competition, including the Greyhound who shut down Tip Top’s win streak #1 Atascocita Emett (Flying Westover – Atascocita Golda, Suncoast), the nicely positioned #8 CRT Nice Mike (Dragon Fire – Gameboy Bambi, Janie Carroll), but most dangerously, being positioned between two of the fastest rushers to the first turn, #2 BF Par Slim (Super Lee – BF Flying Grace, Royal Racing Team) and first-round winner #4 JSK Lubbock (Atascocita Gray – JSK I Love Lucy, B & B Racing). A lot of scenarios with this one and some nice possible money-making opportunities!

The top sixteen point earners following Wednesday’s third round will advance to the Classic semifinals Sunday afternoon, January 21.

The elite eight will move on the finale of the $50,000 He’s My Man Classic Saturday afternoon, January 27.

The $50,000 He’s My Man Classic is the first event in Palm Beach Kennel Club’s $150,000 “Big 3″ Stakes series, which includes the $50,000 James W. Paul 3/8ths Mile Derby (Saturday afternoon, February 24) and the $50,000 Arthur J. Rooney, Sr. St. Patrick’s Invitational (Saturday afternoon, March 17).

The Classic is named for Palm Beach Kennel Club racing legend and the track’s first multimedia sensation He’s My Man and dedicated to the man who raised and trained “Roscoe”, Bill Pappas.
