LESTER RAINES KENNEL’S EYESAPPEALING WINS PALM BEACH KENNEL CLUB’S $20,000 DICK ANDREWS FUTURITY!
West Palm Beach, Fl. – Her Futurity qualifying record was appealing. Her career record was appealing. Her number eight post position in the final was appealing. Everything about her was appealing, especially those beautiful brown “Eyes”.
Perhaps it was pre-ordained, or more likely a super post position by her and advantages starting boxes for the other seven finalists, as Lester Raines Kennel won its’ first stake race at Palm Beach Kennel Club, as the amazing Eyesappealing easily won the post-Christmas Day twentieth running of Palm Beach Kennel Club’s $20,000 Dick Andrews Futurity.
As the starting boxes opened, #7 Rail Defender did exactly what her name implies, darting to the inside and in the process, blocking and jamming most of the other finalists to her left.
This gave Eyesappealing the entire outside rushing lane all to herself and as the saying goes, the rest is Futurity history.
The battle was now on for the other top three spots. Even after her trouble-laden trip to the rail, she cleared second, followed by some traffic issues with the remaining six finalists behind her.
Entering the backstretch, it was two Rader Racing Kennel brothers giving chase to the frontrunners, the undefeated Futurity qualifier #1 Grand Azul and the impressive closer and always improving #3 Top Notch.
At the far turn, it was Top Notch passing his sibling to garner the third-place prize money while Grand Azul settled for the tail end of the Superfecta.
Eyesappealing traversed the 545-Yard Royal Palm Course in a blistering time of 29.50 seconds, the third-fastest clocking in Futurity history, and returned a respectable $7.80 to her many supporters.
The newly-crowned champ collected a cool $10,000 for her impressive two-length victory.

4th – #1 Grand Azul (Barcelona Boss – Kiowa Starz Sage, Rader Racing)
5th – #2. JSK Lubbock (Atascocita Gray – JSK I Love Lucy, B & B Racing)
6th – #4. JT’s Blindnspeed (Pat C Sabbath – Julianne Hough, Koppe, Staats & Collins)
7th – #6. BF Par Slim (Super Lee – BF Flying Grace, Royal Racing Team)
8th – #5. TWPA Hope (Loxahatchee Dash – Takebackyourmink, Rader Racing)
The Futurity is named in honor of former PBKC kennel operator, humanitarian and 2004 inductee to the Greyhound Hall of Fame Dick Andrews.
