OUTSTANDING FIELD FOR PALM BEACH KENNEL CLUB $50,000 HE’S MY MAN CLASSIC CHAMPIONSHIP SATURDAY AFTERNOON, JANUARY 27!
WHO WILL BE THE POST TIME FAVORITE?
West Palm Beach, Fl. – The final eight Greyhounds have been determined for Saturday afternoon’s 38th running of Palm Beach Kennel Club’s $50,000 He’s My Man Classic.
As in most stake race finals, and especially the finale of the $50,000 He’s My Man Classic, it’s all going to come down to post position, post position, post position.
First, let’s look at the finalists who sport the best early first-turn speed/rush. Those include the leading qualifying-point earner, Tip Top along with Grand Azul, Eyesappealing, O Ya Baby Blue and JSK Lubbock.
And then we have the finalists who must rely on their ability to come from off the pace to score the championship win. In that category falls siblings JT’s Blindnspeed and JT’s In The Bank and, perhaps most of all, Top Notch.
At this point in time, a case could be made for all eight of these fantastic finalists making their way to the winner’s circle.
What’s unusual about this group of Classic finalists is the fact we have two sets of littermates competing, all males, representing five Classic slots, the Rader Racing brother trio of Tip Top, Grand Azul and Top Notch, while from the Koppe, Staats & Collins Kennel we have the dream team of JT’s Blindnspeed and JT’s In The Bank.
Also, in a rarity, perhaps for the first time in Palm Beach Kennel Club history, this years running of the $50,000 He’s My Man Classic consists of seven Greyhounds who are two-years of age or younger. If you combine all the starts of those seven finalists, we get a total of 157. And then we get to the undisputed veteran of the field, Janie Carroll Kennel’s O Ya Baby Blue, who all by her lonesome has competed in 125 career races. Amazing!

50 Points: Tip Top (Barcelona Boss – Kiowa Starz Sage, Rader Racing)
49 Points: Grand Azul (Barcelona Boss – Kiowa Starz Sage, Rader Racing)
44 Points: JT’s Blindnspeed (Pat C Sabbath – Julianne Hough, Koppe, Staats & Collins)
42 Points: JT’s In The Bank (Pat C Sabbath – Julianne Hough, Koppe, Staats & Collins)
36 Points: Eyesappealing (Barcia Bale – Goldilocks, Lester Raines)
35 Points: O Ya Baby Blue (KC And All – O Ya Cranberry, Janie Carroll)
34 Points: Top Notch (Barcelona Boss – Kiowa Starz Sage, Rader Racing)
32 Points: JSK Lubbock (Atascocita Gray – JSK I Love Lucy, B & B Racing)
The $50,000 He’s My Man Classic finalists will meet in Saturday afternoon’s twelfth race, all going for the $25,000 first-place prize.
A press conference and post-position draw will be held in the track’s Terrace Restaurant Thursday afternoon, January 25, commencing at 11:45 a.m.
The $50,000 He’s My Man Classic is the first event in Palm Beach Kennel Club’s $150,000 “Big 3″ Stakes series, which includes the $50,000 James W. Paul 3/8ths Mile Derby (Saturday afternoon, February 24) and the $50,000 Arthur J. Rooney, Sr. St. Patrick’s Invitational (Saturday afternoon, March 17).
The Classic is named in honor of Palm Beach Kennel Club racing legend and the track’s first multimedia sensation He’s My Man and dedicated to the man who raised and trained “Roscoe”, Bill Pappas.
