ROUND TWO QUALIFYING ACTION FOR PALM BEACH KENNEL CLUB’S $20,000 BOB BALFE PUPPY STAKES SATURDAY AFTERNOON, APRIL 14!

8 QUALIFYING RACES FEATURING 64 OF PALM BEACH KENNEL CLUB’S FASTEST YOUNGSTERS!

West Palm Beach, Fl. – Round-two qualifying action for Palm Beach Kennel Club’s $20,000 Bob Balfe Puppy Stakes will be contested Saturday afternoon, April 14.

Round one entries looking to remain undefeated in the second go-around of qualifying include:

In Race 2, after coming off an easy win in the first round, #5 Turbo Sibley (Seldom Told – Simplicity Red, Rader Racing) may be challenged by some early-speed entries such as #1 Craigie Player (KC And All – Budz Kenzie, Lester Raines Kennel), #3 Its So Easy (Stealintheshow – Tango Tessa, Janie Carroll Kennel) and #7 Barts Break Away (KC And All – Seadon Traveler, James Douglas Kennel).

In Race 6, there is no doubt what Quiniela combination the racing fans will be pounding as first-round victor #1 PJ Igotfiveonit (KC And All – Kelsos Tuscany, Rader Racing) faces off against the solid Grade A pup, and half-sister, #2 Amazing Chick (KC And All – Amazing Chesney, James Douglas).

Race 12 features round-one winner and $50,000 James W. Paul 3/8ths Mile Derby finalist, #3 JS Mane Event (KC And All – TY Kay Event, Rader Racing). Possible challenges could come from the well-positioned duo of #1 Racing Home (Kiowa Mon Manny – Racing Angel, Lester Raines) and #8 Pure Patriot (KC And All – Kiowa Jill Vik, Janie Carroll).

Race 14 highlights one of the pre-championship favorites, the fourth-place finisher in last January’s $50,000 He’s My Man Classic, #3 JT’s In The Bank (Pat C Sabbath – Julianne Hough, Koppe, Staats & Collins Kennel). His main impediments for a repeat victory will come from the extremely well-posted #1 Barts Fort Brag (Trent Lee – Barts Accountant, James Douglas) and the strong first-turn rusher #4 PJ Lucky For You (KC And All – PJ Fox Face, Rader Racing).

Second-round qualifying wraps up in Race 15 with the impressive youngster, #4 BY’s Wonka (Trent Lee – Skatter McBones, Rader Racing). His first-round winning time of 29.46 seconds was the fastest of any 545-Yard Royal Palm Course race of the entire afternoon. As per Wonka’s racing style, he will most likely be coming from off the pace, having to pass fellow entries #1 PJ Super Trooper (Kiowa Sweet Trey – PJ Chickerita, Royal Racing Team) and #2 Ultra Emily (U Too Pure Silk – Blackjack Emily, James Douglas).

Qualifying will also be held in races 4, 8 and 10.

Following Saturday afternoon’s second round of qualifying, the field will be trimmed to 32 entries. They will compete in round three on Wednesday afternoon, April 18, with the top 16 point-earners advancing to the semifinals Sunday afternoon, April 22.

The 52nd running of the $20,000 Bob Balfe Puppy Stakes will take place Saturday afternoon, April 28.

The Puppy Stakes is named in honor of former Palm Beach Post Time sports columnist and great friend to Greyhound racing Bob Balfe.
