ROUND TWO QUALIFYING FOR PALM BEACH KENNEL CLUB’S $20,000 GALLAGHER / KINNAIRD LABOR DAY PUPPY STAKES, SATURDAY AFTERNOON, AUGUST 18!
West Palm Beach, Fl. – Qualifying for Palm Beach Kennel Club’s $20,000 Gallagher / Kinnaird Puppy Stakes continues with second-round action Saturday afternoon, August 18.
All the Greyhounds from round two will advance to round three, which will be contested Wednesday afternoon, August 22.
The top 16-point earners following the third round will advance to the Puppy Stakes semifinals, slated for Monday afternoon, August 27.
The $20,000 Gallagher / Kinnaird Puppy Stakes championship final will be held Monday afternoon, September 3, Labor Day.
Some interesting puppy stake qualifying match-ups include:
In Race 12, two round-one winners will go muzzle-to-muzzle in the sleek forms the half-brother and sister duo of #4 Seize Tight (KC And All – Ennis Siege, Lester Raines Kennel) and #7 Figfin Dancer (KC And All – SE’s Fig Time, Janie Carroll Kennel). Another pup to watch who drew into a favorable post position is Rader Racing Kennel’s only puppy stakes entry, #1 DS Enjoytheride (KC And All – DS White Phantom).
The final qualifier of the afternoon in Race 15 features the pre-championship favorite to win it all, Lester Raines Kennel’s #6 O Ya By Favre (Defrim Bale* – O Ya Jennifer). Favre turned in the fastest race time, not only of the puppy stakes qualifiers, but of the entire racing card on the 545-Yard Royal Palm Course, 29.63 seconds.
Possible spoilers for O Ya By Favre include another first-round victor, the well-posted #1 Windy Tamara (Superior Panama – Windy Dana, Janie Carroll) and #8 Atascocita Morse (Atascocita Gray – Atascocita Kado, Suncoast Kennel).
Qualifiers will also be held in races 8, 10 and 14.
Post time for the first race Saturday afternoon is 1:00 p.m. with gates opening at 11:30 a.m.
In addition, Palm Beach Kennel Club will be offering a $10,000 guaranteed Pick 4.
Formerly known as the Labor Day Puppy Stakes, this marks the tenth year of its’ new moniker, named in memory of two Palm Beach County legendary sportscasters, and great friends of Palm Beach Kennel Club, Jim Gallagher and Buck Kinnaird.
