ROUND TWO QUALIFYING FOR PALM BEACH KENNEL CLUB’S $50,000 HE’S MY MAN CLASSIC

SATURDAY AFTERNOON, JANUARY 5!

West Palm Beach, Fl. – It’s going to be action-packed afternoon of championship Greyhound racing as round-two qualifying action for Palm Beach Kennel Club’s $50,000 He’s My Man Classic takes place Saturday afternoon, January 5.

And if the first round was anything like round one, expect the fur to fly!

The same Greyhounds who competed in the first round of qualifying last Wednesday afternoon will return for the second round, facing different Classic entries, breaking from different post positions and all striving to be among the top 32-point earners.

The above mentioned 32 will go on to compete in round three on Wednesday afternoon, January 9, with the top 16-point earners moving on to the Classic semifinals on Sunday afternoon, January 13.

The $50,000 He’s My Man Classic finale will be contested Saturday afternoon, January 19.

A quick rundown of Saturday’s qualifiers:

Race 4 features two first-round winners, #5 Super C Martha (KC And All – Sweet On Adele, Lester Raines Kennel) and last year’s $20,000 Bob Balfe Puppy Stakes champion, #6 Flat Chat Cuppa (KC And All – Kiowa Jill Vik, Janie Carroll Kennel). A couple of potential nemeses for these two greats are the super-early speedster #2 XKT Stubby (KC And All – XKT Shelly Turin, Koppe, Staats & Collins Kennel) and the runner-up in last month’s $20,000 Dick Andrews Futurity, #4 Magnus Marvel (Golden Squire – Magdalena, D. Q. Williams Kennel).

No first-round victors in Race 6, but there are a few entries in great post positions. The best spot goes to #1 Open Throttle (Need My Moneynow – MW’s Morrigan, D. Q. Williams) who loves to run the inside and the runner-up best post goes to $20,000 Dick Andrews Futurity finalist, #8 Jackrabbit Slim (Gable Sour Cream – Mavericks Penny, Rader Racing).

Race 8 features another duo of round-one winners in the sleek forms of #2 MW’s T Rex (Aerial Battle – MW Neptunia, D. Q Williams) and #4 Barts Say La Vee (Kiowa Myth – Martinstown Tina*, James Douglas Kennel). Give the nod to the Jurassic T Rex!

In Race 10 D. Q. Williams Kennel’s #7 Bessie Coleman (Goodlucksterling – Miss Kate) will attempt to make it two in-a-row. Looking to challenge for the early lead will be the fleet-footed #3 Outta Style (Dragon Fire – Rain Over Me, James Douglas).

Race 12 can be summed out in one word. Duxbury (Pat C Clement – WW Lonesome Dove, Rader Racing). The recent winner of the $20,000 Dick Andrews Futurity possesses the fastest round-one qualifying time (29.26 seconds) and is breaking between two of the slowest entries out of the starting box.

In Race 14, again, no first-round victors. However, among the post time favorites should be the well-posted #1 Cobi’s Electro (Gigawatt – Extreme Faith, Rader Racing), #4 JT’s In The Bank (Pat C Sabbath – Julianne Hough, Koppe, Staats & Collins) and #7 Glorious Wings (Who Says I Can’t – Winning Terra, D. Q. Williams).

The final qualifier of the afternoon in Race 15 highlights the amazing #8 Amanda Bynes (TMC’s Remedy – Lorna’s Cannon, D. Q. Williams). Amanda will be going for her sixth-consecutive victory and should enter round three undefeated.

The $50,000 He’s My Man Classic is the first event in Palm Beach Kennel Club’s $150,000 “Big 3″ Stakes series, which includes the $50,000 James W. Paul 3/8ths Mile Derby (Saturday afternoon, February 23) and the $50,000 Arthur J. Rooney, Sr. St. Patrick’s Invitational (Saturday afternoon, March 16).

The Classic is named for Palm Beach Kennel Club racing legend and the track’s first multimedia sensation He’s My Man and dedicated to the man who raised and trained “Roscoe”, Bill Pappas.
