Round 3 Qualifying for $50,000 James W. Paul 3/8ths Mile Derby, Wednesday Afternoon, February 14!

ROUND THREE QUALIFYING FOR PALM BEACH KENNEL CLUB’S $50,000 JAMES W. PAUL 3/8THS MILE DERBY WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON, FEBRUARY 14!

RCKNATIVE SPIRIT AND JS MANE EVENT REMAIN UNDEFEATED!

West Palm Beach, Fl. – After an exciting set of second round qualifiers, round-three action for the 87th running of Palm Beach Kennel Club’s $50,000 James W. Paul Three-Eighths Mile Derby takes place Wednesday afternoon, February 14.

Five qualifying races will be held, with the top 16-point earners advancing to the semifinals Sunday afternoon, February 18.

After two rounds of qualifying, only two entries have a shot of entering the semifinals undefeated, Rader Racing Kennel’s JS Mane Event and Suncoast Kennel’s Rcknative Spirit.

In Race 12, #6 Rcknative Spirit (Pat C Clement – RCK Spirit) puts her streak on the line against the likes of early speedsters #5 Oshkosh Marlene (BD’s Grayson – Flying Appletara, James Douglas Kennel) and #7 Kaias Blue Belle (Trent Lee – Kaias Dahlia, Royal Racing Team). There’s no doubt that Spirit will have to come from off the pace to enter the sweet sixteen undefeated.

Race 15 looks to be a slobber knocker of a qualifier. First, you have the undefeated qualifier #4 JS Mane Event (KC And All – TY Kay Event) and boy-o-boy, does she have her work cut out. #1 PJ Whattheywant (Djays Octane – Whats Next, Rader Racing) is sitting pretty on the inside, right beside the box-bomber #2 Barts Big Bang (Pat C Clement – Barts Magpie, James Douglas). Adding to that, we have one of the favorites to win it all, the very consistent, and Mane Event’s half-brother, #8 TC Charlie (KC And All – Oshkosh First, James Douglas).

Qualifying events will also be held in races eight, ten and fourteen.

Post time for the first race Wednesday afternoon is 1:00 p.m.

The $50,000 James W. Paul 3/8ths Three-Eighths Mile Championship final will be contested Saturday afternoon, February 24, and is one of the nation’s longest-running stake events.

The Derby is named in honor of humanitarian, greyhound owner and dedicated supporter of greyhound adoption James W. Paul.
