ROUND ONE QUALIFYING FOR PALM BEACH KENNEL CLUB $20,000 BOB BALFE PUPPY STAKES WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON, APRIL 10!

64 YOUNGSTERS GO TO POST IN EIGHT QUALIFYING RACES!

West Palm Beach, Fl. – Round one qualifying action for Palm Beach Kennel Club’s $20,000 Bob Balfe Puppy Stakes gets underway Wednesday afternoon, April 10.

A tremendous field of 64 of the track’s most promising young up-and-coming racing stars will take to the oval in eight sensational qualifying events. The entire field will return for round two Saturday afternoon, April 13.

The entries will be halved to 32 for round three Wednesday afternoon, April 17. The field will then be cut to the sweet sixteen for the semifinals on Sunday afternoon, April 21.

The final eight will comprise the $20,000 Bob Balfe Puppy Stakes field and will take to the track in the championship finale, Saturday afternoon, April 27.

This year’s field is one of the most talented groups of youngsters to compete in recent memory.

Two noticeable standouts are featured Wednesday afternoon, both having won their Maiden races at Palm Beach, then travelling to Gulf Greyhound Park to compete before returning to their home turf after Gulf’s season ended.

In Race 14, #3 Bumper Cars Bob (Barcelona Boss – Miss Prissy, Rader Racing Kennel) looks to romp against a “Grade Salad” of competition. Bob has been victorious in 7 of 14 Palm Beach career races and has finished on the pay sheet in eleven. One should also keep an eye on the impressive import from Wheeling Downs, #7 Barts Beast Mode (Deerfield Mover* – GV Tilda, James Douglas Kennel). This future star has finished in the Trifecta in ten of his eleven career events.

There is no doubt that the fan favorite in Race 15 will be Bumper Cars Bob sister, #4 Britney Eureton (Barcelona Boss – Miss Prissy, Rader Racing). This amazing young lady has certainly come into her own, finishing in the top two in eleven of thirteen Palm Beach career races. A nice pup to key Britney with looks to be the well-positioned #1 Pat C Inferno (Flying Fired Up – Pat C Pop In, Koppe, Staats & Collins Kennel).

Qualifying events will also be held in races 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12.

The Puppy Stakes is named in honor of former Palm Beach Post Time sports columnist and great friend to Greyhound racing Bob Balfe.
