A WIDE-OPEN FINALE IN PALM BEACH KENNEL CLUB’S FINAL RUNNING OF THE
$50,000 HE’S MY MAN CLASSIC, SATURDAY AFTERNOON, JANUARY 25!
West Palm Beach, Fl. – It’s going to be one of the most competitive stake races in Greyhound history as Palm Beach Kennel Club presents the 40th and final running of the prestigious $50,000 He’s My Man Classic, Saturday afternoon, January25.
And what a way to end this 40-year stake series, as every finalist in this event has a legitimate pathway to the winner’s circle.
First, lets take a look at the $50,000 He’s My Man Classic finalist who drew the most favorable posts.
You wouldn’t think the five post would be taken as advantageous. But if you look at the three finalists to her immediate left, #4 Lonesome Jones, #3 Arkansbdchikhiks and #2 Flying Road King, you will see that they are the Classic’s slowest breakers. Known for her early speed, Arkans Vega should be able to outgun those three to the first turn. And when you have the Greyhound who has run the fastest time of the 2019/20 season, 29.30 seconds in a spot like that, you have to pay attention.
Also in a good spot is #8 Oshkosh Noisy. Since arriving from Wheeling Downs, she has been nothing short of amazing. There is really no Greyhound to impede her run to the first turn, it’s just a matter of if she can attain pacesetter status.
Now let’s look at #1 Heremecoming. I know, looking at his record of only two wins in 37 season races, you may be thinking, what’s the big deal. Well, as with Arkans Vega, those same three slow-breaking finalists are to his right, which is going to leave him a lot of early rushing room.
As for the rest of the field, the top two qualifying point earners, #6 Pat C Dewdrop and #7 Sarahdipedy, could easily be the wagering public’s top choices. If either can manage to be the pacesetter, then more than likely they will win the Classic. But as mentioned above, some Classic finalists may be able to slip underneath them, forcing them to come from off the pace.
As far as the $50,000 He’s My Man Classic’s biggest finishers, Flying Road King, Arkansbdchikhiks and Lonesome Jones, there is saying in Greyhound handicapping parlance that goes “most of the time, a closer cannot catch a closer”. Whichever one, or two, of these big closers gets ahead of the other(s) will have the best chance to score the win or garner an in-the-money finish.
But as with many stake races, things don’t always go the way they look on paper.

- Arkans Vega (Atascocita Gray – Asteria Drive, Royal Racing Team)
- Pat C Dewdrop (Kiowa Myth – Pat C Whereby, Koppe, Staats & Collins)
- Sarahdipedy (Superior Panama – Joy Giovanni, Rader Racing)
- Oshkosh Noisy (Oshkosh Lamont – Oshkosh Vani, James Douglas)
The $50,000 He’s My Man Classic finalists will meet in Saturday afternoon’s twelfth race with an approximate post time of 3:45pm, all going for the $25,000 first-place prize.
The Classic is named in honor of Palm Beach Kennel Club racing legend and the track’s first multimedia sensation He’s My Man and dedicated to the man who raised and trained “Roscoe”, Bill Pappas.
