Greyt Pets

The Palm Beach Kennel Club is very interested in the welfare of our greyhounds. And that interest remains long after the dogs' racing days are over. Greyhounds who are retired need the love and compassion of an individual or family that can care for them. And they make great pets; they are gentle, friendly, affectionate and are easy to care for.

The Kennel Club works with Greyhound Pets of America and the Greyhound Adoption League as well as Awesome Greyhound Adoptions, Elite Greyhound Adoptions, Forever Greyhounds, Greyed A Greyhounds and Greyhound Pet Adoption/Florida/Sourtheast, Inc. These groups operate in similar fashion, screening and informing potential adoptees in order to find the right Greyhound for the right person or family. All are active in the community and rely on numerous volunteers to help promote this very good cause. These volunteers are frequent visitors to the track, returning with adopted family members to discuss the joys of Greyhound adoption with interested visitors.

The greyhound racing industry has made a strong commitment to animal welfare from the farm to the track. Efforts such as:

The Animal Welfare Guidelines Program – the adoption of standard guidelines for the care of greyhounds and the maintenance of kennel facilities.

The Farm Inspection Program – Farms and kennels are inspected to verify compliance with the animal welfare guidelines. National Greyhound Adoption Effort – through the American Greyhound Council grants, Adoption Hotline and state and track-based programs, adoptions have increased significantly.

Industry policies require owners to accept responsibility for their dogs at all times, and impose stiff penalties for those who fail to live up to their obligations. The fact is that racing greyhounds receive the very best of care from devoted trainers who ensure clean and comfortable surroundings, a nutritious diet of fresh meat, vegetables and high-protein feed, and immediate veterinary care when required.

Greyhound Adoption Month, held each October, has found loving homes for over 700 gentle, retired racers over the past 15 years.

I Am Palm Beach Kennel Club

Our employees are family, and so are the greyhounds that race here. Together we've created a history of making Palm beach Kennel Club a destination for excitement, for meeting new friends, and for enjoying life. And we embrace the importance of giving back to community that's been a part of our culture for over eighty years. Since we opened in 1932, we've worked with the State of Florida to provide millions of dollars in contributions to a wide variety of charitable programs and organizations. And providing employment opportunities to a wide range of people from all over our community.
